The First Discussion | Burdened by Fate

I had a productive meeting with the DSP of Pune. Although “Burdened by Fate” had not yet been released, the book was in the process of being printed. After the meeting, we stepped out of the room and made our way to the nearby slum areas. There, we spoke with people who were interested in participating in the book’s video trailer. However, it was decided that we would wait until the book was ready for printing before filming the trailer. As a token of appreciation for those who protect us from illegal activities, I planned to distribute sweets to them.

Burdened by Fate is available on Amazon

I went to the Akurdi Police station, which was near my residency, feeling nervous because there were a few people present for a criminal case. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was preoccupied with resolving the issues at hand. However, I mustered up the courage and approached the security guard for permission to enter. Inside, I saw four police officers discussing a critical case, and I had to wait for 15 minutes before the DSP became available to speak with me. Eventually, he freed up some time and invited me to take a seat before asking what I needed to discuss.

Distribution of sweets

I have written a book based on the true story of girls from a rural area who struggled to achieve success and eventually made it to the top. When I dreamed of publishing my debut novel, I also dreamed of celebrating by distributing sweets to the people who supported me. After opening the sweet box, I shared it with a police officer who then kindly distributed it among the people present.

During our conversation, I expressed my appreciation for the hard work of police officers, who are often subject to criticism and vulgar language. I emphasized that without their strict enforcement of the law, there would be chaos and harm to the innocent.

The police officer agreed and pointed out that while they work only nine hours a day, they are on duty all day, every day, including Sundays, and do not have the luxury of a week off. We had a fruitful discussion about public perceptions of law enforcement.

We ended the conversation by taking a picture together to commemorate the moment. The police officer, who comes from a rural area where English is not widely spoken, promised to spread the word about my book among his relatives and those who enjoy reading. He also expressed his intention to order a copy for his daughter, who is pursuing her graduation. It was an honor to meet a real hero who is always ready to protect and serve.
